Saint Josemaría Escrivá (January 9, 1902 – June 26, 1975) was canonized in 2002 by Pope John Paul II, who declared Saint Josemaría should be "counted among the great witnesses of Christianity". Escrivá's principal work was the foundation of Opus Dei, an organization that teaches that everyone is called to holiness and that ordinary life can be a path to sanctity.
Opus Dei, means Work of God, helps people of every race to love and serve God and all the other people through their ordinary work.
